why 'THE HURT LOCKER' win the best picture of Oscars?

It seems that "The Hurt Locker" and "Avatar" are running to be the biggest winner at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards today.

But 'The Hurt Locker' steal the night away from avatar when the movie won the Academy Award for best picture, capping a historic Oscar ceremony that saw the low-budget Iraq war drama really vanquish the sci-fi blockbuster 'Avatar.'

Its victory also brought a second oscar for Kathryn Bigelow.

Bigelow was one of the four producers of "The Hurt Locker," along with journalist Mark Boal, financier Nicolas Chartier and Greg Shapiro. Chartier was banned from the ceremony after the French native broke Oscar campaign rules by e-mailing voters on behalf of the picture.

The Hurt Locker is a 2008 American war thriller. It was one of the most acclaimed films of 2009, earning awards and honors from numerous organizations, festivals and groups. The film was shot in the Middle East, specifically in Jordan, within miles of the Iraq border.

I already watched this movie and from my opinion, the success of the movie is maybe because of this two brilliant actors.

Jeremy Renner as Sergeant First Class William James.

SFC. James is the reckless, courageous, cigarette smoking, leader of the squad. He is a U.S. Army Ranger. He is the most experienced of the squad having served in the War in Afghanistan. Unlike his fellow soldiers, SFC James wears outdated M81 Woodland camouflaged equipment. Although he is a good leader, James is at times reckless.

Anthony Mackie as Sergeant JT Sanborn.

SGT Sanborn is the one of the members of the squad. He is a good soldier and very by the book. Sanborn is frequently critical of SFC James commenting on his recklessness. Towards the end of Bravo's rotation Sanborn confesses he's not ready to die and wants to start a family.

But honestly, i dont really like the movie. My choice for the award is actually Ingulorios Basterd. but why they choose THE HURT LOCKER??
